Parent Service Organization (PSO)

At Savannah River Academy, we believe in partnering with parents in their child’s education. Because of the dedication of our parents, we are not simply a school — we are a community of families. By participating in the life of the school, parents can make a positive and meaningful difference in their child’s educational experience at SRA.

The Parent Service Organization (PSO) is the volunteering and relationship-building organization for Savannah River Academy parents. This organization provides opportunities for parents to share their time and talents by creating school-wide events, specialized committees with specific focus areas, and organizing staff appreciation efforts. All SRA families are part of the PSO and are encouraged to contact their representative or committee chairperson to become involved.

PSO STRUCTURE

Our organization is composed of a Nest Representative, a Primary Representative, and a Middle School Representative who work together to implement and achieve school-wide success alongside parent volunteers. In addition to the three representatives, parent volunteers will make up four committees with a chair, co-chair, and members in order to serve the school and give back to the faculty and staff.

The treasurer will oversee all financial transactions and fundraising efforts going in or out of the school. Their primary duties include budget planning, financial reporting, record-keeping, and managing incoming and outgoing funds.

WE NEED YOU!

The PSO heavily relies on the dedicated group of parents who volunteer their time and talents to enrich the educational experience of our students through community and service. We encourage you to participate in any way you can throughout the year. There are four different areas/committees listed below that you can get involved in.

COMMITTEES

The Events Committee will be solely responsible for seeing events through from start to finish. Each school will have parent volunteers to plan, gather supplies, coordinate volunteers, provide school-wide notification, and execute events. There will be a chair and co-chair for each event and three members to support the process.

The Hospitality Committee will head up the monthly teacher lunches by coordinating the menu, Sign Up Genius, school-wide notification, and gathering items unfulfilled on the Sign Up Genius. This committee will also plan and execute teacher appreciation gifts during teacher appreciation week. A chair and co-chair will share the responsibilities and have the support of three committee members.

The Fundraising Committee will be responsible for all of the efforts to raise money for the PSO throughout the year - this includes the uniform closet, birthday grams,  spirit nights, and out-of-uniform days. The uniform closet that is open all year will have one chair member to maintain the closet, inspect inventory, collect funds, and return to the treasurer. Birthday grams will be available for families to purchase all year, with another chair member to manage submissions, assemble, deliver birthday grams to the school, and return funds to the treasurer. The PSO will also host monthly spirit nights throughout the year, with a portion of evening sales donated from local restaurants back to SRA. The final fundraiser will be out-of-uniform days throughout the year - a member of this committee will be in charge of school-wide notification and returning funds to the treasurer. The remaining three members will help support the chair and co-chair on a need-by-need basis.

The Timeless Treasure Committee is for families who are in a stage of life where they have more treasure than time. If this is your stage of life now, please help fund these amazing events and help support our teachers. If you want your donation to go to a specific event or committee, please note that at the time of your giving.

To make a donation, join a committee, or ask any additional questions, please reach out to us at srapso@gmail.com or see the contact information above for each representative.
