Savannah River Academy COVID 19 Response

Our goal at SRA is to stay safe and stay open. While we cannot eliminate all the risks of this virus, we can do those things that we know minimize the risks.

  1. If your student is exhibiting any symptoms or is just not feeling well, it is better to keep him/her home. We are appreciative that parents have been overly cautious.

  2. If you or a family member has been exposed to COVID, please notify us as soon as you can. We will ask students to quarantine for 14 days if a family member living in the same household tests positive. Similarly, a student must quarantine for 14 days if they have been a “close contact” with someone who has tested positive. If the student tests positive, he/she must quarantine for 10 days.

  3. The CDC has expanded its definition of a “close contact” to include those who were within 6 feet for 15 minutes or more over a 24 hour period. The duration is cumulative and need not be consecutive. The contact period includes two days prior to symptoms onset or testing until the person is quarantined.

  4. If your child has a fever of 100.4 or higher, he/she must remain home for 10 days before returning to school.

  5. Reinforce with your child to wash their hands frequently, sanitize when possible, wear a face mask when around others or in public places, and practice social distancing.

  6. Our faculty and students continue to wear face masks when indoors and physically distance where possible.

  7. Students and teachers will have temperatures taken before entering the building in the morning and before leaving school.

  8. We will notify all families if a student tests positive but not if a family member tests positive.
